Encourage people

Moving to another chapter of the learning journey in the Leadership and People management,
Encourage People is latest module.

Encouraging people is an interesting topic.
Knowing how to do so, be it in life or in corporate world can give touch people heart.

In corporate world, in order to encourage people, one will need to know and understand few things.
managers need to identify the need of skill development for the staffs
Reviewing the team goal and organisational business plans to identify the new and the emerging skill requirements.
work with the team to identify the current and future skill requirement. By sitting down, having discussion or interview, managers can identify the gap that need to be filled for future development for the team.
For instant, 
  1. the job holders’ goals – current and future? 
  2. What competencies are currently in place?
  3.  What additional competencies needed to meet the goals?
After identifying the gaps, action need to be taken.
There is where managers need to translate team members skills requirement into learning and development plans.

After the team has been send for courses or those that related to enhance their skills, they can be appointed to practice and share their new knowledge with other team members. This is one of the way to encourage them as they will take this chance to showcase their talent and would feel proud been given opportunity and responsibility to take the ownership of something.
team can also be motivated and encourage if they are approach for their oppinions and input.
This is also part of encouragement that manager can give and support.
Providding on the job instruction, coaching and mentoring can increase the capability and performance of team members too.

While at this, the most crucial point of encourage people will be ways to communicate.




 Ask the right question.
Dont be jugemental
Don't use jargon and slang in communication at work place.
